MagiKats is an educational tuition businesses started by Sarah Marsh and her family. MagiKats offers students of all ages outside Maths and English Tuition in England, Scotland, Wales and Abroad. Sarah initial approached me for a website audit as her site design hadn't been updated for a while and more importantly it wasn't mobile responsive. Happy with the feedback on the audit Sarah bought a new website for

The brief:

To redesign and modernise the existing website and make it mobile friendly. The site was hosted on Duda so migration to Squarespace was also needed. As MagiKats is a franchise each centre needed to have their specific pages but the theme had to show unity across the MagiKats brand. A specific predefined brand palette also needed to be adhered too. Sarah wanted to step away from the day to day management of the site so also took on a monthly maintenance package. This gives Sarah her time back and allows me to make any changes without Sarah having to do them herself.

The site needed to be clear and easy to navigate, a fun an informative place to catch the eyes of students and parents alike.

The process:

As Sarah has created and designed the existing site she was very well versed on what she wanted the site to look like. That being said she was also happy for my design input across the site too.

The older homepage housed a lot of information so this needed to be de-cluttered and updated to show all the necessary information without looking over crowded. I achieved this by breaking certain points int he page up with image buttons and color blocking to draw the eye and keep focus on different parts of the page.

The centre pages we're also in need of an update so I completely redesigned these with more calls to action in mind. I not only had the centre contact details at the top of the page but also in the middle and each we're clickable for immediate action.

As the curriculum for England and Wales differs to Scotland, additional Scottish pages were also re-designed to showcase any differences.

During the design process Sarah was quickly able to grasp Squarespace to make a few changes here and there but ultimately left he build to me.

The Outcome: is now a clean and informative mobile friendly website.

The site is bright, fun and easy to navigate. We cleverly introduced additional navigation points on the prints pages to make sure the user views more of her artwork. The homepage was created as a one page cover to how Ali works and reveals one of her prints to high-light the human and handmade element. This is also apparent in the "Behind the Scenes" page, where we wanted to give the buyers a real chance to get to know the Artist.

Overall Alison is very pleased with her new site, shes even said within days of it being live shes getting a lot of compliments from new users. I really enjoyed working on this site as her prints are beautiful!

"Nisha created a beautiful website for my Fine Art Print business, which showcases my work very elegantly. During the design process Nisha followed my brief very sensitively and produced exactly the right look. It was a real pleasure working with Nisha and I would definitely recommend her."
